X-Ray Could Help Doctors ID Victims Of Domestic Violence, Sex Assault

(Boston, MA)  —  Doctors may be able to identify domestic abuse victims using X-rays.

That’s according to a new study from Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Researchers analyzed X-ray images from patients referred to programs for domestic abuse or sexual assault.

They noticed many patients had soft tissue injuries, and fractures to the hand, wrists and face.  Experts say these injury patterns could alert radiologists to potential partner violence.
