Mike Riley Fired As Coach Of Nebraska Cornhuskers 

(Lincoln, NE)  —  The Nebraska Cornhuskers are looking for a new head football coach.

University Athletic Director Bill Moos announced this morning that Mike Riley is no longer the coach of the team. In a statement, Moos said Riley brought “professionalism and energy” to the program, “but those attributes have not translated to on-field success.”

The decision comes after Nebraska ended their season yesterday with a loss at home to the Iowa Hawkeyes 56-to-14.  The team finished the season with a four-and-eight overall record and three-and-six in the Big Ten Conference.  That marks the teams fewest wins total since 1961.

Over Riley’s three seasons at Nebraska, he finished with an even 19-and-19 record.

Linebackers coach Trent Bray has been named interim head coach.  Nebraska alumnus and current UCF coach Scott Frost could be Riley’s successor.
