Richard Cordray

(Washington, DC) — The head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is stepping down. Richard Cordray told his staff in an email today he plans to leave his post before the end of the month. His departure comes amid Republican calls for new leadership at the agency that oversees the financial industry. Cordray did not mention future plans, but there’s growing speculation he may run for governor of Ohio.
