(New York, NY) — With clocks going back an hour this weekend, the city is warning drivers about the increased dangers on the roads that come with daylight saving.
The NYPD will be stepping up patrols this fall and winter during the darker busy evening rush hours when vision is greatly compromised by the setting sun.
Officials note that rush hour driving in newly dark evenings is the most dangerous in the year for pedestrians.
Drivers are also being warned to pay attention at night to the greater numbers of deer traditionally out on the roads, especially in the Bronx and Staten Island.
