(Dallas, TX) — Southwest Airlines is gearing up for flights to Hawaii.
On Wednesday night, the Dallas-based carrier said it plans to launch Hawaii service as soon as 2018.
The Federal Aviation Administration still must approve the plan. The approval process reportedly could take a year or more.
To accommodate the flights, crew members will have to undergo special training, and planes will need additional equipment.
