(San Diego, CA) — An oil slick is expected to reach the shores of San Diego County. Navy brass says about 700 gallons of oil leaked yesterday from the USS Dewey into the sea. There was reportedly a mechanical problem aboard the destroyer that caused the spill. The Coast Guard reports that the Navy is deploying booms at the mouth of the Tijuana River to protect wildlife. Authorities warn that the oil could reach Imperial Beach or Tijuana sometime today.
