HISD Plan For Troubled Schools

(Houston, TX)  —  The HISD is going ahead with turnaround plans for the district’s most troubled schools. Trustees voted Thursday night to approve the plans for 27 struggling schools in an effort to prevent the state from closing them down or taking over the district. The turnaround effort will focus on schools that the state has listed as “improvement required” for one to eight years. Ten of these schools need to improve their standardized test scores this school year, or else a state takeover of the district could result.
