First Lady To Speak On Opioid Crisis Ahead Of President

(Washington, DC)  —  First Lady Melania Trump is speaking on the national opioid epidemic today, ahead of President Trump’s address to the nation.

A spokesperson for the First Lady said her remarks would have a “personal tone” and would focus on the personal accounts of Americans she has met, whose lives have been affected by opioid addiction.

Last month, the First Lady hosted a policy roundtable discussion  at the White House, that was attended by children and families affected by drug addiction, as well as New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, the chairman of President Trump’s Commission on Combating Drug Addiction and the Opioid Crisis.

President Trump is expected to announce a public health emergency regarding the opioid crisis this afternoon.
