(LUBBOCK) – A power outage at Texas Tech University has plunged the majority of campus into darkness.
TTU Emergency Maintenance is reporting that at least 39 buildings on campus are affected, including most student dorms.
The power went out at 10:48pm Tuesday night. The problem is apparently in or near the Student Union Building.
Initially thought to be caused by a tripped breaker, the outage is now being blamed on a blown transformer near the School of Music.
Power is out to most of the eastern and central portions of the Tech campus however, buildings along and west of Flint Avenue appear to be unaffected.
It is not known if the outage will impact classes Wednesday morning. As of 4:30am Wednesday, there were no notifications or messages about the outage via ANY of the usual Texas Tech alerting schemes.
