(Dallas, TX) — The Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s organ is having its 25th anniversary. The massive Lay Family Concert Organ was designed and built into the Meyerson Symphony Center a quarter century ago. The huge instrument has more than 45-hundred pipes, only a few of which can be seen by the audience. This bundle of pipes can make a wide variety of sounds, including a trumpet, a flute, strings, reeds and even a nightingale. It took three years to build the organ, which was completed in 1992.
