(Dakar) — Three Army Special Ops Forces members are dead following an ambush on a patrol in the African nation of Niger. U.S. officials say two more soldiers were wounded. They are reported to be in stable condition. The five Green Berets were attacked while on a joint patrol in the southwest part of the country, known to have a presence of both Al-Qaeda and ISIS-backed insurgents. Five soldiers from Niger were also killed. The U.S. military has maintained a small force in the country, advising local troops fighting terrorist groups.
