(Houston, TX) — The Astros Foundation is extending a helping hand to the people of Puerto Rico.
Six truckloads of air cargo are scheduled to arrive on the island beginning today with the help of the Astros, the Houston Mayor’s Office, Crane Worldwide and FedEx. Over 240-thousand pounds of supplies such as water, clothing and diapers will be distributed.
The announcement came days after Astros outfielder Carlos Beltrán, who is from Puerto Rico, announced he was launching a crowdfunding campaign to help the island.
