(Los Angeles, CA) — Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington is dead of suicide at the age of 41. TMZ reports he hanged himself, and his body was found this morning at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in L.A. County.
He was married, and has six children. Linkin Park was one week away from starting a tour that would have started in Boston and ended at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Bennington was close with musician Chris Cornell, who also committed suicide by hanging earlier this year. After Cornell’s death, Bennington wrote that he considered the Soundgarden frontman a friend and an inspiration.
