Late Rally, Lifts Astros

(Kansas City, MO)  —  Lance McCullers Jr. carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning as the Astros pulled away from the Royals in the ninth, for a 6-1 win.

McCullers struck out eight over seven innings of one-run ball, allowing only two hits.  Lorenzo Cain broke up the no-no with a one out triple, and scored Kansas City’s lone run on a Mike Moustakas single.

Jose Altuve highlighted a five-run ninth inning with a two-run homer, as Will Harris got the win in relief.

Jason Hammel tossed seven innings of one-run ball for Kansas City and Kelvin Herrera took the loss.   The teams split the four-game set.

On to the Next One:

Houston returns home for a nine game homestand that kicks off today against the Los Angeles Angels.  Brad Peacock will make his fourth start of the season as he sports a 3-0 record and a 2.30 ERA.

The Royals head to San Diego for the first of a nine game road trip today, as rookie Erick Skoglund will be on the mound.
