Texas Lawmaker Wants Anti-Gay Statute Off The Books

(Austin, TX)  —  Despite a U.S. Supreme Court ruling in 2003, it’s still technically illegal to be gay in Texas.

State Representative Joe Moody of El Paso has filed a bill to repeal language in a 1974 state law that says homosexual conduct is a criminal offense.

The law is unenforceable, but could still be used by public officials trying to stir up trouble.

Texas, Kansas and Kentucky are the only states that still have laws on the books targeting same-sex relations.
