House Passes Massive Defense Bill

Texas House of Representatives(Washington, DC)  —  A massive defense bill is headed to the Senate after final passage by the House.

The vote was 375-34.

The more than 600-billion dollar bill would give troops a two-point-one percent pay raise.

It would prevent the closure of the terror detainee prison at Guantanamo Bay.

President Obama has been trying to shut down the Gitmo prison for eight years but has been consistently blocked by congressional Republicans.

The prisoner population is well below 100.

The defense bill also prevents the Pentagon from trying to force thousands of California National Guard troops to repay enlistment bonuses that they received erroneously.

The Senate is expected to vote on the defense bill next week.
