(Des Moines, IA)  —  The suspect in the murders of two Iowa police officers is in custody after giving himself up.

Scott Greene was captured in Dallas County this morning while walking along a dirt road.

At a news conference, Des Moines Police Sergeant Paul Parizek said Greene flagged down a Department of Natural Resources employee in a vehicle, showed his driver’s license and told them to call 9-1-1.

Greene was hospitalized with some sort of medical condition after he was taken into custody by the Iowa State Patrol.

Parizek said charges are pending an interview with Greene and processing of evidence.
