Murder Charge Filed In East Texas Girl’s Death

(Tyler, TX) — The uncle of an East Texas girl is now charged with murder in her death.

Gustavo Zavala-Garcia is accused of killing Kayla Gomez Orozco last week after she disappeared from a Bullard church.

The ten-year-old’s remains were found in a well over the weekend, and Zavala-Garcia is the last person believed to have seen the girl.

A motive hasn’t been released.


(Tyler, TX) — A suspect in the murder of a ten-year-old east Texas girl is being held on a federal immigration detainer.

Kayla Gomez went missing from a church lobby in Bullard last week.

Her body was found yesterday in a well behind a home in the town, about 15 miles south of Tyler.

WFAA-TV reports the suspect is a male relative identified as Gustavo Zavala-Garcia.

The Smith County sheriff tells the station that Zavala-Garcia will likely be charged with murder early this week.
