Texas Ends Six-Month Execution Gap Tonight

Texas House of Representatives

(Huntsville, TX)  — Texas will end its longest gap between executions in eight years tonight with the scheduled execution of Barney Fuller Jr., convicted of killing his neighbors in Houston County.

“The Texas Tribune” reports it will also be the first time the rural county has ever put someone to death since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976.

Over a dozen death sentences have been halted or delayed in Texas over the past six months.

The last execution was on April 6th.
