(Eden Prairie, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings are going to be without star running back Adrian Peterson for several months. ESPN reports Peterson will undergo surgery on his torn meniscus on Thursday and is expected to miss three to four months. The 31-year-old suffered the injury in Sunday’s 17-14 win over the rival Packers. Peterson has rushed for just 50 yards on 31 carries through two games after leading the NFL with 1,485 yards last season. Backup running backs Matt Asiata and Jerick McKinnon will fill the void while Peterson is out. This is the second major blow this season for the Vikings, who lost starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater to a season-ending knee injury on August 30th. The 2-and-0 Vikings travel to Carolina this Sunday.
