(Austin, TX) — Hundreds of Texas high schools are failing to register age-eligible students to vote. And, that’s despite a state law that says high schools must circulate voter registration cards at least twice annually. The latest figures released by the Texas Civil Rights Project shows fewer than four percent of the state’s high schools have even asked the Secretary of State’s office for voter registration applications. Another reminder to high school principals was sent out this week. But, there is little indication that the law is being followed.
