(Austin, TX) — Expectations are not high as Congress reconvenes today.
“The Texas Tribune” reports lawmakers are pretty much forced to make a deal on keeping the lights on through at least the November election. The inflexible deadline for a new budget is September 30th, but many feel lawmakers are likely to do little else before taking a break again.
One bi-partisan issue important to the Texas delegation is money to combat the Zika virus. Federal funds to fight Zika run out at month’s end.
