Doctor: Zika Virus Is Already Here

(Houston, TX) — A leading authority on the Zika virus believes transmission of the virus is already underway in Gulf Coast cities. Doctor Peter Hotez with the Baylor College of Medicine says he’s worried that the transmission of Zika has begun in the “poor neighborhoods of our Gulf Coast cities” and “we could be missing it” because of a lack of funding. Hotez says he’s very disappointed that Congress will take a seven week vacation without approving funds to detect the virus.
