(Dallas, TX) — The ambush-style killings of police officers in Dallas is one of the deadliest attacks on law enforcement in the past hundred years. In a video posted to YouTube, shots could be heard ringing throughout downtown Dallas.
At least five officers are dead and several others are reportedly in critical condition after the shootings Thursday night. The death toll is the highest since the September 11th terrorist attacks, when 72 law enforcement officers were killed. The attack in Dallas is the second-deadliest in the 21st Century. Police say at least two snipers opened fire on officers who were patrolling a peaceful protest in downtown Dallas. Eleven officers and one private citizen were shot.
