Congressional Black Caucus Demands Action On Guns

(Washington, DC) — Members of the Congressional Black Caucus are putting more pressure on congressional leaders to deal with gun violence. In a Capitol briefing, Texas Democrat Shelia Jackson Lee said hearts are broken about the shooting deaths of five police officers in Dallas. They were killed in a sniper ambush. North Carolina Democrat G.K. Butterfield said caucus members are angry and frustrated by congressional inaction on guns. He also expressed dismay about the shooting deaths of two young black men by police in Louisiana and Minnesota. Michigan Democrat John Conyers called for expanded background checks and a ban on military-style assault weapons.
