The dad of former Texas A&M receiver Thomas Johnson says his son has a serious mental illness.
Robert Johnson tells “The Dallas Morning News” there’s a voice in Thomas Johnson’s head which makes him wear winter coats in the summer and go on walks in the middle of the night.
One friend says Johnson started acting strange during his freshman year at A&M, including not leaving his room and only wearing white clothes. The friend also says Johnson started thinking he was the Messiah and the chosen one.
He was diagnosed with schizophrenia last year, but it isn’t known if he got treatment.
Johnson was arrested last week on allegations he hacked a jogger to death near White Rock Lake. Dallas police say he’s admitted to the murder.
