Bobby Anderson tells KHOU-TV he started punching the four-to-five-foot-long shark after it bit Gregory Slaughter on Monday. Anderson says he put the 13-year-old in his arms and got him out of the water as quickly as possible.
The 17-year-old says Slaughter pretty much went into shock because of the injuries to his foot and hand.
Slaughter is going to have surgery today, but is in good condition at the hospital.
