(Arlington, TX) — A Texas Rangers employee is out of a job after a post on the team’s official Twitter account Saturday.
At the time, the U-T Longhorns were in the middle of a humiliating 50-to-7 loss to TCU. Suddenly, the Rangers’ Twitter feed ran a tweet saying “Fire Charlie. Hashtag-Bye.” This apparently referred to Charlie Strong, the Longhorns second-year head coach.
The post was quickly deleted but not before it had been re-tweeted numerous times.
The Rangers issued an apology and say the employee responsible was immediately fired.
