- Lubbock police are investigating a Wednesday night shooting that sent a 15-year-old boy to University Medical Center in critical condition. KCBD reports that police responded to the 2900 block of Beech Street after receiving reports of shots fired around 7 p.m. Early reports said the shooter left the scene and led officers on a chase, but a suspect was not caught. Police set up a perimeter, shut down traffic and prevented residents from returning to their homes as they investigated. A two-door Chevy Camaro, which is reported to belong to the suspect, was located at 1902 1st Street. Police are calling the shooting a “group-related” crime and said they are still investigating. The suspect is described as a male in a white shirt and jean cargo shorts.
- America’s newest millionaire is in Michigan. USA Today reports the $310 million winning Powerball ticket was sold at a gas station in Three Rivers, Michigan. The jackpot would be worth just over $191 million after taxes if taken as a lump sum, but the lucky winner hasn’t come forward yet. The winning ticket combination, drawn Wednesday, was 21, 39, 40, 55, 59 and a Powerball red number of 17. When the winner does come forward, they will claim the second largest jackpot this year, according to the Michigan Lottery.
- The Facebook app on your mobile device is changing again. The social media giant announced yesterday that users will soon have the ability to use looping seven-second video clips as their profile pictures, similar to GIFs. Some users in California already have the new feature, but that’s not the only change Facebook is making to the mobile platform. You’ll also have better ability to control what information is posted at the top of your profile and fill out a new line that describes something about you, similar to a Twitter bio.
- And finally, if you’re looking for something to do tonight, TAB is hosting two events in the SUB. At 7 p.m., head to the Red Raider Ballroom and take your chances in Minute to Win It.
