5:30 News Update- September 30, 2015

  • Tonight at 7pm there will be karaoke for free with a Texas Tech student I.D At the Barnes &Nobles located inside the student union building.
  • An Arlington man is not going to be charged for shooting another man overnight.  There was a confrontation at an apartment complex near South Cooper and Mayfield about 11 p.m.  One man says his windshield was bashed in with a rock and, feeling threatened, he shot the other man and drove off.  The wounded man is still in the hospital this morning.  Police who sorted this out say the shooter was acting in self-defense, so no charges are expected.
  • A top academic research scientist has agreed to plead guilty in a steroid distribution case out of North Texas.  Yonnie Wu signed a plea agreement yesterday at the federal court-house in Dallas.  Wu was a highly-respected researcher at Auburn University and federal prosecutors claim he tested steroids in his university lab so his accomplices could market the drugs on the Internet, using Wu’s reputation to vouch for the purity of the products.  Wu was connected to an anabolic steroid lab in Forney.
