- Carly Fiorina has two stops in Dallas today. Running for the Republican presidential nomination, Fiorina will be raising financial support during a luncheon at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek and an evening event at The Residences at the Ritz-Carlton. Both are private and the candidate has no public events scheduled. Fiorina’s popularity is rising. A commonly-cited polling average shows her at nearly 12 percent, good for third place behind Donald Trump and Ben Carson.
- Scientists at NASA say there’s evidence that there’s liquid water on Mars. NASA spokesman Jim Green announced the major discovery at its headquarters today in Washington. Research has shown dark streaks on Mars are likely caused by liquid salty water and that it flows in the planet’s summertime.
- Russian President Vladimir Putin is criticizing the U.S. Speaking to the UN General Assembly, Putin said the U.S. believes it is much more exceptional than it is. He also accused the U.S. of undermining the UN through unilateral actions, calling it dangerous. Speaking through a translator, Putin condemned ISIS and called on the world community to work cooperatively with the Syrian government to combat the terrorist group. Russia is backing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. President Obama has called Assad a tyrant and has repeatedly said Assad must go.
