  • North Texas philanthropist Richard Rainwater is dead.  The Rainwater Charitable Foundation says Rainwater passed away yesterday morning due to a rare brain disease at the age of 71.  His son tells “The Wall Street Journal” Rainwater was a laid back kind of guy who found the right people to run a struggling business.  Rainwater helped George W. Bush buy the Texas Rangers and get Michael Eisner installed as Walt Disney World CEO.  Before his death, his family created the Tau Consortium, which is looking into how to cure degenerative brain diseases.  Funeral arrangements are pending.
