Police say Brent Messmer of Fessenden wrecked his car into a dirt pile in a farmer’s yard over the weekend but left the scene with a six-year-old girl.
He then allegedly tried to steal another car when confronted by the owner and then picked up the girl to block officers when they tried to Taser him. It didn’t work and he was caught after a short time.
The girl was not hurt.
