House Approves A To F Ratings For Schools

Welcome to Texas SignAll Texas schools are a step closer to being graded on an A to F scale. The House approved the new rating scale last night which focuses on STAAR test results, attendance, and student and parent engagement.

It also includes graduation and dropout rates. Killeen Republican Jimmie Don Aycock says the new system keeps schools accountable. Houston Democrat Sylvester Turner says giving schools F’s could make it seem like it was the fault of the students.

He wants more school funding, the Senate has already passed a similar bill.
