Records obtained from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration indicate that officials at Blue Bell Creameries had been aware of Listeria contamination problems for at least two years. The “American-Statesman” reports the Brenham-based firm knew inspectors recorded five occurrences in 2013 and ten samples that tested positive for Listeria last year. Blue Bell issued a recall of all products last month and closed four production facilities because of Listeria that sickened a number of consumers and killed three in Kansas.
