About one-third of Van is damaged or destroyed by a tornado, or perhaps more than one, that touched down last night. Emergency crews from around east Texas hurried to Van Zandt County to help triage at least two dozen people who were hurt.
A triage center was set up at Van’s First Baptist Church. Also, a shelter was opened at First United Methodist Church. Van schools will be closed today.
In nearby Henderson County, more than ten inches of rain fell Sunday evening.
