Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake is calling the scene in her city tonight “very disturbing.” While addressing the media, Rawlings-Blake said there is a big difference with the peaceful protesters and the “thugs” who are “set on destroying property.” The mayor announced a curfew in affect for Baltimore starting tomorrow night and lasting for one week, from 10PM to 5AM. She said the city Emergency Operations Center is up and running to monitor the situation and deploy resources where needed.
More than a dozen officers are injured due to the riots in Baltimore. Riot police were pelted with bricks, bottles and rocks from mobs that roamed the city. Some of the officers suffered broken bones. A Baltimore police official said two officers are currently in the hospital.
