KTXT FM Sports Update LogoTexas Tech took on Northwestern State at the United Supermarkets arena last Tuesday, beating the Demons 75-64. Robert Turner scored 13 points in the win, taking the Red Raiders to 3-1 on the season. Zeek Woodley scored 27 points for Northwestern, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the balanced offense by Tech. The Red Raiders then took on the Air Force on Sunday at home, barely edging the Falcons 63-62. Devaugntah Williams led Tech with 21 points, with Turner scoring a free throw in the final minute, giving the Red Raiders the lead. Tech, who is now 4-1, play Auburn on Wednesday. The game will be broadcast on the SEC Network and ESPN3.

The Lady Raiders were in Freeport, Bahamas this past week, participating in the Junkanoo Jam, losing their first two games of this season against Purdue and North Carolina State. On Friday, Tech faced Purdue, losing to the Boilermakers 69-53. According to TexasTech.com, it was the first time the Lady Raiders had been outscored all season. Saturday, Tech took on NC State, and despite 16 points from Minta Spears, the Red Raiders lost 75-42.  the Lady Raiders face Abilene Christian on Wednesday back at the USA at 11:00 a.m.

The Tech football team headed to Arlington to take on the Baylor Bears in the last game of their season. Tech, coming off a win against Iowa State last week, was hoping to take down a nationally ranked Baylor team and almost succeeded, falling just short to the Bears 48-46. Freshman quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 598 yards a six touchdowns, leading the Red Raider comeback and setting a Big 12 freshman record. The Red Raiders finished the year at 4-8.
