According to NFL.com, former tailback for the Texas Tech football team Kenny Williams has professional potential. No, Williams did not leave the team, instead, he will be playing linebacker for the Red Raiders beginning with Saturday’s game against Central Arkansas. Before spring practices began, Williams approached head coach Kliff Kingsbury and asked to switch to the position, which he last played in 2009. Williams led the Red Raiders with 497 yards and eight rushing touchdowns last season. Kingsbury says, depending on how the season goes, we could still see Williams in the running back position.

In Cleveland, Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has been suspended by the NFL for the entire 2014 season after his appeal was denied by the league. The yearlong suspension comes as a result of Gordon violating the league’s substance-abuse policy and is effective immediately. Gordon tried to argue he was a victim of secondhand marijuana smoke, but the appeal committee denied his argument. The 23-year-old Gordon led the NFL with 1,646 receiving yards last season.

According to Yahoo Sports, the NFL is considering increasing the punishment for players involved in domestic violence. There has been outrage from experts and fans of the national football league after Ray Rice, running back for the Baltimore Ravens, was only given a two game punishment after being caught on video dragging his unconscious fiancé out of an elevator, allegedly after punching her, but Denver Broncos kicker Matt Prater, who had one drink while on the NFL’s monitoring list for substance abuse, was suspended for four games earlier this week. This has led many to wonder what the NFL’s standard on violations are. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has defended Rice’s punishment, saying it is consistent with previous cases.
