DALLAS – Southwest Airlines is being fined 200-thousand dollars for a false 59-dollar fare.
The U.S. Department of Transportation says Southwest broke the full-fare advertising rule in Atlanta last October over flights to three cities. No seats were actually available at that price.
Southwest says there was an audio mistake in a TV ad discussing the fares, which was immediately corrected. The airline also says any customer who called over the 59-dollar tickets were given them.
