(Fort Worth, TX) — The body of a brain-dead, pregnant Texas woman who was taken off life support is being released to her husband.
Lawyers for the family made the announcement yesterday after a JPS Hospital in Fort Worth complied with a judge’s ruling that the woman be taken off life support.
Family and friends had been trying to get Marlise Munoz off life support since Thanksgiving. Attorneys for the Munoz family had said the fetus the woman was carrying is “distinctly abnormal” and probably wouldn’t survive outside the womb.
Marlise Munoz was about 22 weeks pregnant and had been on life support since suffering what her husband believes was a blood clot.
