Is It Really July?

Following a record-breaking heat spell last week, west Texas has cooled down significantly. In fact, Lubbock experienced below average temperatures both Sunday and Monday. The cooler weather will stick around for a couple more days.

If the spring-like weather wasn’t enjoyable enough, the far western South plain has greatly benefited from rainfall accumulations over an inch, in a few spots. Even in Lubbock, combined rainfall totals of 1/4- 3/4 of an inch have been recorded following storms over the past few days.

By the Fourth of July, temperatures will increase once again, as thunderstorm chances begin to decrease. However, temperatures are only expected to warm back to near-normal levels- not the record breaking heat we saw several days ago.
