Showers and thunderstorms will threaten the western South Plains early Friday morning with lightning and small hail. By Friday afternoon, partly cloudy skies, and warm temperatures, will rule the forecast. High temperatures will be in the mid 80’s across Lubbock.
Thunderstorm chances increase late Friday night as another complex of storms develops over northern New Mexico and heads in the general direction of the South Plains. The highest chance of rain will remain north and west of Lubbock. The strongest storms will be capable of producing large hail, gusty winds, and dangerous lightning. All thunderstorm activity will clear the area by mid-morning Saturday.
Other than a few isolated thunderstorms Saturday afternoon, warmer weather and partly cloudy skies are expected through early next week.
