Wednesday’s Forecast

Wednesday will start muggy and breezy, with temperatures near 70 in the city of Lubbock. By afternoon, temperatures will be in the 90’s.

A cold front will move into the northern South Plains Wednesday morning, before stalling somewhere across the South Plains or Permian Basin by Wednesday evening. Along and behind this front, showers and thunderstorm will develop. A few of the storms may be severe, with large hail and damaging winds. There is also be a chance of locally heavy rainfall, which could cause a few localized flooding problems.

Storm will develop after 2 PM, initially across the northwestern South Plains, before spreading across the entire area through the evening.

Off an on rain chance will stick around through the start of the weekend, along with much cooler weather.
