Tuesday’s Foecast

A ridge of high pressure is continuing to build into west Texas. High pressure is associated with ‘sinking air’, which makes it difficult for clouds to develop; let alone showers and thunderstorms.

Thus, we have a very hot and dry week of weather ahead. Still, there is a slight chance of thunderstorms this afternoon, mainly across the far northern South Plains and Texas panhandle. If storms do develop, a few could be strong with large hail and damaging wind gusts.

Otherwise, expect hot temperatures and gusty afternoon winds that could cause areas of blowing dust to develop. High temperatures will peak in the upper 90’s between 3 and 6 PM. Get your water bottles and air conditioning ready, Lubbock’s high temperatures will be in the low 100’s Wednesday, through the end of the week.
