Lubbock had high temperatures above the century mark several days this week. But, just in time for the weekend, temperatures will begin to decline.
The ridge of high pressure that brought the bout of hot and dry conditions has begun to weaken, and shift towards the northwestern Unites States.
Afternoon temperatures are still expected to be hot this weekend, but will stay below 100 degrees. Mid 90’s are expected Saturday, with low 90’s on Sunday afternoon. Improving moisture levels will also increase our shower and thunderstorm chances. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will develop each afternoon, through The Fourth of July. More widespread thunderstorm activity could affect the South Plains each evening or overnight, as thunderstorms develop in New Mexico and head towards west Texas.
If you have any outdoor plans this weekend, drink plenty of water and keep an eye to the sky!
