While we’re starting the morning with very little on the radar across the South Plains – an approaching upper level disturbance, in combination with higher moisture levels, will produce scattered showers and thunderstorms later this morning. Areas near and south of Lubbock will have the best chance of measurable rainfall, some of which could be heavy.
Due to the cloud cover, high temperatures will be cool; near 70 degrees. Winds will pick up through the afternoon, gusting over 30 mph by 1 PM.
Conditions improve on Saturday though a few forecast models show more shower and thunderstorm activity both Saturday and Sunday evenings. For now, chances look to remain below 10 %. Highs will be in the 80’s, under partly cloudy skies and gusty afternoon conditions.
