Wednesday’s Forecast

The South Plains is entering an almost ‘summer-like’ pattern, consisting of very warm temperatures, gusty afternoon winds, and a small, but daily, threat for afternoon thunderstorms. Wednesday will begin mild, with temperatures in the lower 60’s, under partly cloudy skies. There could be patchy fog to start the day, off of the Caprock.

By afternoon, Lubbock will be in the lower to middle 90’s with  southwest breeze of 15-25 mph. A weakening cold front, in combination with a developing dry-line will help stir up afternoon storm chances.

Any thunderstorms that do develop will be very isolated, but could be strong  with small hail, gusty winds, and frequent lightning.

Temperatures may push the century mark by late week!
