A mild start to the 2nd day of the week will give way to a very warm, spring-like, Tuesday afternoon across northwest Texas. Temperatures will climb into the upper 70’s by lunch time, under partly cloudy skies.
Temperatures top-out in the mid 80’s by afternoon, with continued partly cloudy skies. However there is a chance (~20%) of isolated late day thunderstorms. The southeastern half of the South Plains, mainly south and east of Lubbock, have the best chance of thunderstorm activity.
If storms do develop, a few could become strong with gusty winds and small hail. Outside of storms, winds will average 10-20 mph, with a few gusts between 25-30 mph likely.
