Tuesday’s Forecast

If you thought Monday was warm, you may want to keep the short- sleeve shirts in hand; Tuesday’s going to be hot! Tuesday will begin on a mild note, with morning temperatures near 60 degrees in the city of Lubbock. There could be areas of fog before 10 AM, especially east of Lubbock. By noon, temperature will be in the 80’s, under partly cloudy skies. Lubbock will likely top out in the lower to mid 90’s between 4 and 6 PM.

There is a small chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon. Areas along and east of the I-27 Corridor have the best chance. Though, even in these locations, chances are around 10 %. If any storms do develop, they could be strong with gusty winds, lightning, and small hail.

This spring has proven that warm weather doesn’t always last, and this trend will repeat itself on Wednesday. A strong cold front will move through Lubbock sometime late Wednesday morning or early in the afternoon . Strong thunderstorms cold form along this front, especially off of the Caprock. Behind it, everyone will experience much colder temperatures,  strong wind, and blowing dust. Winds will slowly diminish on Thursday afternoon, but cold weather will stick around.  In fact, a light freeze is possible in Lubbock on Friday morning!
